Skandasana โ€ข God of War (whoaaaa) โ€ข Side Lunge

Nayyy, I didn't learn this pose/move from yoga. Not martial art although I was forced to take up Taekwondo when I was a kid & made it to orange belt! ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿคฃ And definitely not from dance classes, the only dance classes I've attended was ballroom dancing although I love social dancing & raving๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ™ˆ I didn't even know what this pose is called until 2 years ago ๐Ÿ™„ This pose/move was part of my drills when I was sprinting & hurdling. We did lots & lots of hip opener & leg stretches. We would do 30 reps on each side & not feel our thighs later ๐Ÿ˜… So for me this is child's play.

If you're working on this one, take your time. If you move too fast between sides you might injure your hamstring or sit bone (which I had, several times during my track & field days). Flex or point your toes? Try both, different stretches, that's all, no right or wrong. You can have your hands on the floor or to the centre of your heart. Try it & set your thighs on fire this weekend! ๐Ÿ”ฅ

We get to see the Bean today!!! We go in for my 20 week anatomy scan to check and pray everything is developing as it should. We also get to find out if Baby Bean is a he or a she! But you guys wonโ€™t know until this weekend after weโ€™ve revealed to our family. .

Since I wasn't doing so great with weighted side lunges my coach changed it up a bit so we are still working on the imbalance between my legs but it's adding a little metabolic training! And I would say it was working! By the last set I was taking small breaks every couple jumps. - THE LOVE OF SOLITUDE -
I realize now why I love being secluded and alone in silence so much, itโ€™s because no one asks anything of me. It always feels that when I am around others I am being asked to give beyond what I feel comfortable giving. This sounds selfish but itโ€™s actually very much not. As a giver I give so selflessly that I often times feel abused and I havenโ€™t yet found a way to patrol the border and defend my space. This makes me feel used up, disrespected. When Iโ€™m alone Iโ€™m able to relax into a world of peace. No one asks anything of me, not even myself. I can just BE. I have always found it very easy to just BE. Fade away into other dimensions. Itโ€™s there that I feel calm and at complete ease. I love this world I can so easily enter. Itโ€™s so entertaining to just BE. I never get bored because it feels like time just floats along side me. As if we are on the smoothest boat ride taking us to nowhere land. No schedule, no place to be, nobody to run into or have to explain myself or my ways to. Pure bliss. Simply being. I often wonder why we canโ€™t live this way amongst each other. Why do people always want MORE? Itโ€™s like you being you seems to never be enough? You give a little, they want a lot. Itโ€™s not that I LOVE being alone, itโ€™s that I hate being taken advantage of. But I do hope one day to find a soulmate who will be willing, able & ready to get on that boat with me and float along the waters that BE, together, holding each other in complete gratitude that we have found this rare love and nothing else is wanted or needed. Both of us asking nothing more than just the simple pleasures of sharing our energies of which need no explanation or effort. In the spirit of lunges, the side lunge is another favorite as it works a different plane of motion. If we are speaking in technical terms, this movement is in the frontal plane as opposed to a forward or reverse lunge which would be in the sagittal plane.

The TRX Side Lunge is a great way to work your way into a bodyweight side lunge but also an opportunity to get deeper into the movement and work those glutes to the max.
