I love the colors and shapes of succulents, and making a succulent dragon is something that I've wanted to try for a long time. I thought a rocky textured dragon would provide a good base, and I tried to get all of the succulents to have a soft, glowy look. They are not super true to life - more like the fantasy version, which suits me just fine. Every succulent was hand formed from tiny individual pieces and they all feature color gradients. As you might imagine, this was quite time-consuming! .
I swirled a number of greens together to make the wings and 'horns', which I think was the least successful part of the project. Next time around, I will try something different, but other than that, I love the profusion of colors and shapes.
Crafted from polymer clay, and glass bugle beads. Sold at Otakon 2018.
