Yes this is comedic, but on a serious note this is an issue.
Black people of all walks of life, cultures, and ethnicities fear for their lives. Even if you are light, medium, or dark, “mixed” or “just black” it is systemically put in you to have a natural fear of authority. So when people make insensitive comments like white America treats you better if you are “lighter” or have looser curls, you are taking away the natural PTSD most black Americans feel. It isn’t something you can comment on and simply remove with your opinion. It is a deep rooted systemic issue, and it can’t go away because of your feelings, or experience. Yes there is a standard of white beauty, however it isn’t something that prevents horrific run ins with the law. Take for example our love for animals, just because a hunter comes across a “beautiful” lion, doesn’t mean he is going to spare it... Let’s encourage each other to tell our experiences and judge less. ✨
