The social rejection of fatness and fat bodies is problematic. Anti-fat social environments, such as those that characterize many industrialized and industrializing nations tend to promote widespread body shame. The chronic belief that one is failing to meet social norms – including what is an acceptable body – is deeply shaming and can contribute to depressed mood.
How do we begin to remove body shame? How do we address these social attitudes that contribute to fat stigma?
I believe that all work has to start at the individual level. I remember during university, a professor put up a series of statements about body weight, and a class of ~100 (mostly female) students responded whether we agreed or disagreed with them. The first statement was along the line of “I would love and accept my best friend if they gained weight.”—almost everyone agreed. The second statement was something like “I would love and accept my body if I gained weight.” – almost no one agreed.
Fat stigma can be subtle. We might not make negative comments about a person’s body because we don’t want to hurt their feelings. But we often internalize messages like “fat is bad” and apply them to ourselves. We might complain about how much weight is on our hips but reassure that our friend looks fine. But what are we really saying when we shame ourselves for our bodies? The message remains “fat is bad”. If we truly want to create an inclusive society, where people of all bodies types, shapes, and abilities are valued, we must begin to have more compassion for our own bodies. Let go of the idea that fat is bad, start to cultivate awareness of your body, and maybe even grow to appreciate it too.

After exploring the maze-like streets of Diocletian's Palace 🏰we headed through the old town for a bite 🍽 and our first beer of the day 🍺😁 we prefer to go out eat bigger meals and enjoy the atmosphere in the evening, so we go for budget meals in the day - that's where it can be easy to grab pizza's/kebabs as they are often the cheapest and easiest choices. For the equivalent of £14 we had 2 large beers grilled chicken 🍗 salad 🥗 and fries 🍟Pretty basic but it was so tasty and satisfying! •

INGREDIENTS:
8 cups arugula
3 medium apples thinly sliced
1 red onion thinly sliced (shallot will also work)
1 cup roasted pecan halves or raw pecans, lightly toasted
1 batch Herbed Cashew Cheese broken into pieces
1 batch Maple Tahini Dressing
.
FOR THE CASHEW CHEESE:
1/2 cup raw cashews soaked overnight
Juice of half a lemon
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1 - 2 tablespoons water

If dairy is okay, feel free to swap in goat cheese and skip the cashew cheese altogether. After all, this is your salad!

Here's another place with an interesting story that i loved and is a must visit! @juliette_chocolat ... it's the paradise for chocoholics! Juliette (the founder) opened her place at the age of 22 and had on the menu all the chocolaty desserts ; goey brownies, crepes, fondues, chocolate spreads and ice cream that she used to dream of when she was a kid then from one small place that started in 2003 in Quebec city she expanded to other cities, added food, drinks and plenty of other pastries to her menu (which includes big selection of vegan gluten free options and treats) and now she owns 8 branches and gift boutiques. The hot chocolate there is an experience, you can choose your chocolate based on their origin ; South America, Madagascar, Ecuador and much more... its hard to leave that place without a momentary overdose of chocolate 😋

Lunch 😋. Scrambled eggs 🍳 with fried potatoes, cavolo Nero, green chilli 🌶 and beetroot. Fried in coconut oil, salt, paprika and cumin. .

I’ve now been able to reintroduce eggs, it’s so nice to have a variety. Now I just need to wait to see if there’s a negative reaction. If all goes well I will be reintroducing gluten free grains at the end of the week. .
