The gorgeous Lidder River showing its true colours.
The river, originating from the Kolahoi glacier near to Sonmarg, is 73 kms long and runs southwards through the alpine meadows of Lidderwat in the region of Aru valley. Pahalgam, a major tourist destination in Kashmir, forms the central Lidder valley.
One walks by the Lidder River on the way to the first campsite of the Tarsar Marsar trek, Lidderwat. Lidderwat campsite overlooks the exquisite meadows by the river.
I have been hearing about the beauty of Kashmir since ages now and finally have it ticked off from my bucket list. Best part is, I saw the most beautiful parts of Kashmir through the 6 day Tarsar Marsar trek. In my upcoming posts, I am going to share with you the most amazing captures from these 6 days.
The above picture is of the Tarsar Lake, situated at a height of 3,794 metres. The lake displays stunning colours of nature due to its turquoise blue waters surrounded by lush-green hills, a few snowy patches feeding the waters of the lake and carpets of tiny yellow flowers along the flat grassland. Camping by the lake and star gazing at night is an experience in itself.
Trekkers need to consider this trek at least once in their lifetimes since it offers views one can only imagine to be heavenly.
After 18 days and over 200 miles, this badass woman has finished her PCT adventure and moves on to her next adventure: grad school!
The next 500 miles of my journey won't be the same without you, Jenn! Thanks for being the most amazing hiking partner <3
