The happiness of your life depends on the quality of your thoughts ๐Ÿ‘ฝ
what you consumeย โ€“ the energy you take in โ€“ directly determines what you produce โ€“ what you put out, how youโ€™re going to feel, what you can accomplish. And Iโ€™m not just talking about food or thoughts โ€“ the same thing applies to the ideas you expose yourself to, the people youโ€™re surrounded by, theย books you readย and greater vision you choose to conceive.
what weย focus on the most in life growsย and if our focus is on the things outside of our control, then we will be controlled by them. If, however, we were to focus on the things that are in our control, then we will be in control.
Every thought we experience is there because of some phenomenon or an event. If I were to start dancing right now or do something else crazy, you would think โ€“ what a weirdoโ€ฆ If you were to get a text message from your friend asking what you should do tonight, then you would think of some options.
The thoughts we have will nourish both our body and mind according to the energy level they provide us with. Our subconscious mind works like a vicious feedback loop โ€“ whatever gets put in gets taken out โ€“ the thought patterns we have will find their manifestation in our life as well. #qannoubine #livelovelebanon #tagthestory #livelovebcharre #northlebanon #igerslebanon #lebanontimes #ig_lebanon #insta_lebanon #lebanonspotlight #ptk_lebanon #mylebanon #wearelebanon #meetlebanon #ourlovelylebanon #instalebanon #amazinglebanon #lebanonmania #liveloveqadisha #beautifullebanon #thisislebanon #qadishavalley

How fitting it is that this Friday when St Marina heads back to Wadi Qannoubine she can wave up to Mar Elias, on his feast day, as he stands perched high on the mountain of Hadchit.
In his book โ€œAn Introduction to the Maronite Faithโ€ Fr Yuhanna Azize speaks of the Maronite village spirituality and the tradition of visiting the saints. โ€œThe relationship with the patron saint is another aspect of what I think is one of the characteristics of the Maronite approach to spirituality: the belief, and more than the belief, the feeling and conviction that God is here and the divine is in our very midst. This has to be balanced with the Maronite understanding that we still have efforts to make: yes, God and his saints are here, but we have to open our eyes to see them, and to obtain the favour of God. For this reason, Maronites often went on pilgrimages to the shrines of saints, especially if they had an urgent prayer to make, or sought the healing of their diseases and the resolution of their problems.โ€ Generations of Maronites have made pilgrimages up mountains and down valleys to visit saints and seek their intercession by way of a nadir (vow). As most of Lebanon has now gone to bed, what a remarkable day we have witnessed. Marina, a simple girl, would never have imagined that she would leave to Italy after her death or return to Lebanon to such a fuss. How special it was to watch as she made her way from the airport and people lined the streets with such excitement to meet her. What a witness Lebanon is, that as her body was being transported, no barricades were up in the streets. With such spontaneity people flooded the streets and she was generously being stopped so that people waiting could touch her. What was most moving to see was so many ordinary Lebanese lining the streets to seek her intercession. After 800 years of her body not being in her homeland, St Marinaโ€™s witness has never faded. She is now in Diman with our Patriarch, but how special it will be on Friday when she winds her way back to her home in the Valley of Saints, Wadi Qannoubine. Let us not squander this opportunity to learn from this great saint.
All St Marina desired was to be with the Lord. Let us all be inspired to that desire.

Day 3 - A desire to be with the Lord

St Marina wanted so badly to be with the Lord that she denied her gender and her very sexuality. Even when she was falsely accused of fathering a child, she still did not lose sight of the divine.
Today Lord, let us let go of ourselves, our temptations and even our own being and seek only to desire you.
Amen. St Marina is returning home. If you are in Lebanon she will be arriving on 17 July. Make sure you visit. #stmarina #lebanon #qadisha #qadishavalley #maronite #livingmaronite

Day 2 - Qannoubine
The story of St Marina has captivated the hearts and minds of Maronites for generations. A young girl who wanted so desperately to be closer to God, she disguised herself as a man and lived as a monastic. She was falsely accused of fathering a child with a village girl and was subsequently thrown out of the monastery with the child to live on the outskirts of the town. She raised the child on food scraps, never speaking a word of her innocence. It was only in her death that it was discovered she was a women and she could not have been the father.
When you visit Wadi Qannoubine you might imagine vast and elaborate monasteries built by man. But it is nature who provides the monasteries in this blessed valley. The trees are the stain glass windows through which the light beams and the caves are the walls which shelter and protect.
Generations of Maronites have visited this amazing valley of saints at times when they were troubled seeking the intercession of St Marina. Today we pray for the intercession of St Marina for any troubles we may have - illness, financial worries and addictions. We pray that like St Marina we may never lose sight of loving the Lord.

You can learn more about the Grotto of St Marina and Qannoubine in the second part of Guita Houraniโ€™s article at the link in the bio. We are also encouraging all Maronites to visit when Marina returns home this week from 17-23 July. #marina #hadchit #lebanon #qadisha #qadishavalley #wadiqannoubine #livingmaronite #troubles #maronite

Exciting news.

The body of Saint Marina is returning to visit Lebanon at her home in Wadi Qannoubine for her feast between 17 and 23 July.

The relics of Saint Marina were once kept at the Monastery of Qannoubine and were later transferred to Constantinople and from there to Venice, Italy.
The relics were placed in Saint Liberal and Saint Alexis church. After the arrival of the relics, the church became known at the Church of Santa Marina. It is located near a river or water canal named Rio di Santa Marina.
In 1818, the church was demolished and the relics were transferred to Santa Maria Formosa Church. The people of Venice, like the Maronites celebrate l Saint Marinaโ€™s feast on 17 July. Churches in Greece, Belgium and St. Catherine of Sinaรฏ claim each to have a left hand of the Saint. To read more about this wonderful saint click on the link in the bio.
For those in Lebanon, St Marinaโ€™s body arrives at Beirut International Airport on Tuesday at 12:30 noon where it will remain in Lebanon until 23 July.
You can get more information about the visit at the Wadi Qadisha page on Facebook. ูˆุงุฏูŠ ู‚ุงุฏูŠุดุง ุงู„ู…ู‚ุฏุณ

To celebrate we will begin three days of prayer in the lead up to her feast. Today we will pray for all those who want to be close to God, but are finding things are getting in their way. Marina knew that she did not want to marry and she wanted to consecrate her life to be with God. She chose to hide her gender and live out her life as a monk.

Last weekend in the Qadisha Valley. Probably heading back there this weekend with some friends to escape the heat and humidity and crowdedness of Beirut like many of the Lebanese do over the summer months to breathe the cooler and cleaner mountain air.

A very interesting shopping experience where my grandmother (who stayed the car because she is not very mobile), is ordering around three men to bring her fruit to sample. Once she has found something sheโ€™s satisfied with, on this occasion cherries and apricots, a lengthy process of bargaining ensues to get the best possible price. Often this results in her buying multiple kilos/entire boxes of fruit! The Qadisha valley is well known for its fruit trees, including apples, pears, cherries and apricots and olive trees at the lower altitudes.

Eating manouche for breakfast in the village of Hawqa in the northern Lebanese mountains with my family. Manouche is a very simple and delicious traditional Lebanese breakfast dish comprised of freshly made Lebanese flat-bread with zataar and olive oil. Zataar is a herb mix of thyme, sumac, sesame seeds and salt. It is served warm together with mini cucumbers, tomatoes and olives. If you hike down into the valley from Hawqa there is a small hermitage, Saydet Hawqa, where Father Dario Escobar, a Maronite monk from Colombia lives and spends about 14 hours a day in prayer.
