Have you ever visited the bridge of sighs? Legend has it that prisoners used to pass across the bridge from the palace would sigh as they caught their last glimpse of Venice. 🇮🇹
So the Famjam went off to cambridge! Later start to to the day but we still managed to see and experience lots. Mum and i wandered an art museum there, fitzswilliam, which houses one of the largest and best collections in Britain apparently. The building itself was quite grand! Wandered past the corpus clock - the bug at the top kinda creeped me out to be honest :p
Kare came back from parking and we headed off to see aome of the colleges in our way to great st marys cathedral, were we hiked up an inhumane amount of tiny stairs to get to the top of the tower. Well worth it - great view of the entire city!
Then it was more exploring. I wanted to see the bridge of sighs here but unfortunately the colleges are all fairly closed up because its exams, so no luck with that one. If i come back to cambridge i would plan to go punting on the river to get a good view of the various bridges.
We had lunch and mum had her much needed mid day latte/cappuccino :p then some town wandering. On our way out we did manage to get a good look at the mathematical bridge - which is rumored to be built with no screws or bolts. But thats just a rumor :p
Lovely day in all! #englandtrip2018#cambridge#greatstmaryschurch#kingschapel#thebridgeofsighs#mathematicalbridge#stpaulscollege#corpusclock#fitzwilliammuseum#kingscollege
