There is an enemy inside us. We try to fill the emptiness with love and acceptance from others, in our relationships and through our accomplishments. But we know that these will never be enough.
The enemy inside us is our sinful nature. This disobedience led to all mankind being separated from God and the life He had to offer. We were cut off from the source of life and goodness.
Because we were cut off from the source of life, we have become spiritually dead. In His wisdom and mercy, God knew that only He could bring us back to life. So He sent Jesus Christ to become man, emptying Himself of His power and bearing the ugliness and pain of the punishment for sin on the cross.
As we follow Jesus, He accomplishes what we could never do—bring ourselves back to life. His saving grace not only brought us back to life, but it allows us to continuously say no to unrighteousness and yes to His good plan and purpose for us. . . . for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God . . .
