Special choice from Nikko, one of the most well-known spiritual places in my country located in Tochigi prefecture. The name "Nikko Homare" literally means "Pride of Nikko"
So here is the essence of pride I can feel from this bottle [FIRST ENCOUNTER] Right at the moment when you open the bottle, you encounter a straight-out fermentation smell. It's a wild smell that really brings you to the mood for sake. It's like I'm flat out challenged like "dude, you know how to enjoy this bottle?"
Then the second pour gives a totally different impression. Very quiet aroma greets your nose. I think this bottle has a life.
[SIP] Very sweet at the room temperature. It feels like the coconut juice served at the south pacific beach. Soft touch of the water really enhances its tender feel. [DEEP DOWN] Sweetness keeps coming but gradually its wonderful tingling feel takes over. And it eventually turns even spicy like Japanese "shichimi (Japanese seven spice chili pepper)". What a turnaround and it really goes very well with cool hiya-yakko (or fermented soybean curd) [THROAT] Tingling feel gets stronger before it goes down the throat, capping the whole experience of this wonderful gulp…
