My dear friend @sarahs.holistic.health has encouraged me to share my health journey on Instagram to inspire others. .
So here it is....

June 2017, I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia months after a pretty traumatic divorce. My marriage and my entire life had fallen apart. .
What wasn’t new was health struggles. Years back I was diagnosed with PCOS and chronic pelvic pain. I became a train wreck.
.
With the fibro diagnoses, I decided to attack it differently. With a positive mindset. .
In 2017, I had 408 sick hours of missed time off work. I was practically bedridden with debilitating pain. What I focused on, was the beauty in the world. .
I started taking photographs to capture all the goodness of life despite the intense battle of pain I struggled with. Along with the photographs, I was determined to find answers. .
I chose to deny opioids and went the medical cannabis route instead. This not only helped the pain but also my mindset. I LOVE CBD. Did you know @marys_medicinals makes patches? .
I also focused on food, exercise, massage, and, my spiritual well-being. .
Today, I am a vibrant soul that LOVES life and lives each day to the fullest. I do take nerve drugs (Savella) but mostly, the process has been natural. .
Here are my tips that I use daily to fight this incurable illness. Even if you’re not a fibro warrior, a lot of these tips can still be applied towards a better life. ❤️

Jayhawk win and meal prep is done! My own spin on a creamy shredded chicken soup 🍜 cooked in a crockpot on high for 4 hours: 3 very large chicken breast, 2 cups chicken bone broth, 1 can diced tomatoes, 1/2 an onion, 4 Tbs butter, 1 Tbs cumin, 1 Tbs chili powder, 1 tsp paprika, 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp pepper, 1 tsp red chili flakes, 1/2 tsp cayenne, then add a block of cream cheese and cook for 30 more minutes and finish with parsley! It made about 10 cups and these containers are 1.5 cups each•

Started the 30 days to healthy living November 5 and it is now November 12. I never joined up to do for weight-loss as this program is not a diet and protection game rather progress and healthy eating . There are those who join for weight loss but me it was more about eating healthy, feeling better and more energy.

I can tell you the first few days were hard as my body was getting use to the adjustment of cutting things out like dairy, soy , gluten and sugar.

Now here we are November 12 and I can honestly say I am feeling great and this eating differently feels natural. My energy is back and I am feeling less blah (bloated etc )! I wanted to lose some weight in my tummy area since having two babies but to be honest I believe most of it was bloating . I have cysts and items in food have caused me to feel super sick ! Right now I haven’t had any stomach issues!
I have already lost just over 3 pounds .
I am not eating less . I am eating different and still eat whenever I want .

Do I think having treats once and a while is bad ? No. It’s all about moderation. This program has taught me smart ways to look at what I eat . "Your body is a temple, but only if you treat it as one." ~Astrid Alauda

Celebrating the small things...Just over 2 months have passed since I fully acknowledged I wasn’t well and decided something needed to change...and just under 2 months since I let go of the counting, no Fitbit or my fitness pal (had a few slips) just trying to listen to my body.

💥IMPROVE YOUR SLEEP💥By @fit.advices -
Getting good sleep is what we all struggle with. I’m starting to implement some of the habits listed above. So far I’m seeing really good results with avoiding electronics 30mins before I sleep.
-
If you’re having trouble with improving your sleep, start with ONE, maybe two (at most) of the habits listed.

If you try to implement too many at one time you will be overwhelmed and won’t be able to stay consistent.

If you’ve been following me for a while you know what I always say: “consistency is key”

I reiterate for a reason. Stay consistent with something for long enough and it becomes a habit that’ll stick with you for the long term.

Form healthy habits and guess what? - you’ll be able to stay healthy almost effortlessly.

It takes time and patience. So take it one step and one habit at a time.

My eating has been on point👌 I was in hospital on Sunday night till early morning and my tummy is still so sore, I did a combat class last night and thought I would go tonight but I think I'm going to listen to my body and just take today as my rest day. I'm still so sore and feel so exhausted but I will definitely be going tomorrow regardless! 💜

Anytime I have a “lap blanket” on (mainly because it’s arctic in my room) I always think of the grandparents in Charlie & The Chocolate Factory. They literally sat under the covers forever and were decrepit. I was chuckling at this as I tucked myself into my fuzzy blanket and thought “Hm, are there areas in my life that I just need to get up and try to freaking walk?” 🤔 Yeah, there are! There are totally areas of my life that I’ve been “sitting” for so long that I have to learn how to “re-walk” in those areas. 💡 Then while connecting with some clients tonight we chatted about the joys of goal setting and how important it is to keep moving forward toward the goals we’ve set for ourselves. #sofreakinginspired

Are there areas of your life that you’ve been sitting for so long that it’s kind of scary to think you’ll have to re-learn how to walk again? Know that regardless of your goals (physical health, mental health, financial health, etc.) you CAN learn how to walk again! You will be wobbly at first but that’s why you’ve got folks here cheering you on and pretty soon YOU WILL BE JUMPING, RUNNING AND LEAPING with JOY! Even if you don’t believe it for yourself right now, I believe it for you! .

I know what you're thinking..."isn't that a Dave Matthews Band song?" (It is...) You can say what you want about them (unless it's anything negative cause you're wrong.. they're the sh**..😂) But IT'S SO TRUE. I spent years being unhappy with where I was in life in so many different aspects. My job, my health, my relationships, my self confidence.. (you get it right?) •

I know what it's like to feel trapped. Like you have no way of changing your circumstances and no chance of being authentically happy. But you do. And you can be. I can't promise everyday is going to be perfect or that you'll feel the same motivation on day one as you do on day 50, (spoiler alert-you probably won't) but I doubt you'll ever say to yourself, "damn, I wish I never took the first step to better myself"... • ((Basically, this is me telling you to take that step. Whatever it is. Just freaking do it. And I promise, you'll spend the rest of your life thanking yourself for doing it.❤️))

Post holiday blues ☀️ we had an amazing two weeks in Bali with my family for my sisters birthday and it was sooo good to leave all the stress and responsibilities behind at home and have a much needed reset 👙🕶 Now I'm home I wanna go back already, I'm still not feeling 💯and I have so much school to catch up on 😬 so naturally, I'm trying to multitask by studying and tanning at the same time 😅 but, I need to stay focused! only a few weeks left to grind it out and I'm free for the summer! 👒✌

The hubby just informed me he snapped a picture of my mid #burpees - here’s me hoping I don’t throw up 🤢 during one of 4 sets of 30 burpees between my 25lbs sand bag 💼 carry roughly 50yard there 50yards back 2 sets. @shirlarae kicks 🦵 my butt and I love ❤️ her for it. Ouch ouch ouch oh that’s just my legs, back and arms. I think I need to work on my core - sh 🙊 don’t tell my coach she will find some way to incorporate that into her evil 🦹‍♀️ plan for us. Now there is talk about us meeting a few times a week as a group. No more trusting us to do this individually without her around. 😬😯

Dont worry about failure, worry about the chances you miss when you don't even try.
This rings true for me today. I'm excited and nervous about my upcoming body scan. Have I done enough? Could I have done more? What if I haven't lost weight.
