We had the pleasure of spending a little time in the cut. WNC in autumn. Drank a cold beer or two with friends while kiddos slipped and slid. At one point there were 10 or so dogs tearing through the field, chasing each other and nipping at each other’s necks. Jake and I took off on our own creek adventure. We trekked around thick rhododendron along the rocky creek to a slip of waterfalls and a large mossy rock perfect for sun bathing. We stripped down for a chilly AF dip into a small watering hole—more of a watering bathtub—situated between an upper and lower set of falls. We had a helluva time going into our knees, then our hips, belly buttons, nipples (the worst!), and shoulders...the buck stopped at my shoulders where I paused and soaked in the freezing water against my skin. It got so cold our skin started to sting, even burn. We laughed that we were essentially in a hot tub! We laughed until it was clear, we had to get the F out. The hot tub was just in our minds. The creek had thoroughly cleansed us, and we were invigorated. Thank you Sunday.
