Ahh the humble rice cake adored by some scorned by many.

My personal view on it’s own not that exciting. -
In fact I would say it’s a bit like eating a tastier version of polystyrene.

I’ve not actually done that but as a kid I did like chewing on hot water bottles and eating burnt raw spaghetti!
-
If that wasn't bad enough Ellie (my momma) once fed me insects by accident and way before it became fashionable or acceptable!

Anyway the rice cake is
👉low in calories
👉super versatile
-
All in all pretty handy if you are looking for a way to save some calories.
-
You could switch the bread roll or pitta you have with your lunch or your slice of toast in the morning for a couple of rice cakes.
-
👉They also make great “hosts" for toppings.
-
Tzatziki chicken or tuna is AMAZING! Seriously!
-
If you have been of the thinking that rice cakes are the root of all evil then maybe one of these toppings could an opinion changer.

Was awake aaaallll night again last night 🙄😩😴😞 just as I started to doze I had a panic attack 😞 BUT!! Rather than sitting and d’welling on things I made a plan, knew I’d be knackered and most probably be more tempted to binge so I roasted a chicken for salads/butties, chopped up veg and made an absolutely beaut chicken broth 😍 I surprise myself sometimes!! Don’t think my body will know what’s hit it after so long with lack of nutrition! And all in all this is everything I ate today, nothing more and nothing less, mega improvement as I’m too scared (germs/emetophbia, the chicken was a biggie!! 😰) and too unmotivated to cook, and let’s be honest, last thing you wanna do when you feel sad is eat fucking broccoli right? Ohh btw I blended the berries banana and yoghurt, it was such a beautiful colour and tasted so beautiful too! So much so I scranned it before I got a pic 🙊😂 I still feel abit bad/panicky about eating tho ... just trying to focus on nutrition over calories, Yano good mood foods etc, planning out each day as it comes, let’s hope I can carry this on 🤞🏼🤞🏼#insomnia #mentalhealth #eatbetternotless #eatbetterfeelbetter #bingeeatingrecovery #goodmoodfood #emetophobia #germophobic

✨Every time I have work in the evenings I know I won’t have any time to eat dinner. So I’m sure to eat a good lunch (that’s pretty much dinner too) to get what I need in for the day without needing to eat too late. •
✨ALSO!! Healthy food may break the bank more than you’re used to because some people prioritize other things in their life over good nutritional food.... even going out to eat often!! •
✨BUT if you viewed food as medicine and preventative care from future EXPENSIVE hospital bills.... would that make you want to take care of your health more?
It’s an investment and if you eat good food you’re less likely to have any diseases in the future. Just think about it 😉.

I have always struggled with my eating habits. I have gone through the eating too much, and I’ve also gone through the phase of not eating much. Neither were good for my body, and I know that. It didn’t seem to matter, my weight was always a little higher than my classmates.
When I was in middle school, I was very active, and as a result, I would often eat larger dinners because my body was using all of the nutrients I was taking in. Then my athletic career drastically changed when I got to high school. I had the thought that if I stopped eating, I would lose weight. My high school lunch consisted of an individual bag of chips and a Swiss drink (usually tea or lemonade). Then I wouldn’t eat again until I had dinner. Sometimes that would mean having nothing but chips from 7 am until 7/7:30 in the evening. I was still heavier than my classmates!

College brought new challenges! I was completely in control of what I ate and when. I did start eating healthier, but it wasn’t always the easiest to continue following. After college, I stopped trying. I ate whatever I wanted without any regard to whether it was a good choice or not.
Now I have a breakfast that is dense in nutrition and filling! I start my day on the right path, and I’m not starving myself! I also have access to healthy recipes that my family enjoys eating!

Morning folks! A review about the trending #intermittentfasting and my point of view. IF involves a fast period of about 16 hours and eating in an 8-hour window. (For example, eating your meals between 11am and 7pm). Some cases even involve 24 hr fasts twice per week. The objective behind this is to lose weight by reducing calorie intake (as long as you don't overeat during the eating periods). Some benefits:
🔶IF can help you lose weight and belly fat, because you usually eat less amount of calories in a reduced time period.
🔶It may help to reduce "bad" cholesterol and triglycerides, which could reduce risk of heart disease. 🔶IF can have beneficial changes in the function of genes related to living longer and protecting against disease. 👉However, there is still some more evidence needed and studies in humans.
🔶Human growth hormone increases, which helps with fat loss. 🔶Insulin resistance may drop, which should protect against type 2 diabetes. 🔶Some people may find it more useful than doing small meals throughout the day.
CAUTIONS:
💥IF has some side effects, like more hunger, you may feel more week than usual, and may suffer from headaches.
💥This is not recommended for people who have diabetes, have low blood pressure, take medications, are underweight, or have a history of eating disorders. Same if you are a pregnant woman, breastfeeding or trying to conceive! ☝
THE BOTTOM LINE: First, look for proper assessment! I am an advocate of a healthy relationship with food, that is, no heavy restrictions, but moderation. The idea is to aim for a long term result, habits that you can sustain in the long run. In the end, you will still get good results by eating healthy and balanced. ☺✌
