Cardio is one of the worst ways for you to lose fat.
-
If you want to lose fat, start at the base of the pyramid. Your diet is most important. For Calories, bodyweight (lbs) x 10-12 is a great way to lose fat. For protein, get a minimum of 0.82g/lb, so if you're 200lbs, that's 164g of protein per day MINIMUM.
-
The next most important thing you can do to lose fat is to lift weights. Stay strong, and get stronger. This will help you maintain or build muscle mass. More muscle means your metabolism is higher, so you burn more calories throughout the day. -
You can easily just do diet and weight training and lose fat, but if you have more free time, you can do some HIIT. Interval training, barbell complexes, and sled pushes all work well here.

Lastly, I'd say, avoid long and slow boring cardio, but if you must do it, then make sure you're doing everything else FIRST. Long, slow cardio is your last resort. It's like jumping to hyperspace in an asteroid belt.

When most people diet, their goal is to lose weight.

They go about doing lots of cardio and strict dieting, and they reach their goal of losing 10lbs...yay! But then they look in the mirror and hate how they look, so they keep dieting, and the whole time, they still hate the way they look.

Why?

It's because they lost weight, but they stayed the same body fat percentage. For more people, if you want to lose better, you'll need to lower your body fat percentage.

There are 2 ways to do this: build muscle, or lose fat (or both).

If you want to look amazing year round, then here's what to do:
-
If you're over 15% body fat, then cut down until you have a solid six (or 8) pack. Once you reach this, lean bulk. Keep lean bulking until you're around 15%, and then repeat the process again. This way, you're able to build muscle, but you don't have to bulk up and get fat looking. Just follow the course like Daenerys Targaryen and good things will come.

HIIT or Regular Aerobic Training?
Advantages of HIIT is an efficient way of producing maximum health benefits in a shorter amount of time and the recommended target HR is 85% of Heart Rate max. Some studies have also found that sprinting intervals can actually cause muscle growth to occur in the legs.
Disadvantages include adherence to high intensity training may be lower.
Ultimately it all comes down to a persons willingness and goals they wish to accomplish. Someone may want to simply walk at a fast pace but lower intensity and spend more time in the gym, whereas others will appreciate spending less time training.

#transformation10 success story. “I've struggled with my weight my whole life. My weight has been up and down, but mostly up and the up seemed to get higher as I got older. I believed I could do anything in my life, except when it came to my weight. It was very frustrating. I tried all kinds of diets and felt like I was always hungry. When I tried fasting or eating less I got headaches and felt sick.
I started working with Mihaela Telecan in January of 2018 as part of her 10 month Transformation-10 program. No disrespect, but people, do not compare HEIGHT with WEIGHT. It’s not natural especially when massive weight loss is possible but I haven’t seen anybody talk about height loss.

Change your mindset.
You weren’t born “big boned”.
Do not pass the blame for your actions.
Be accountable.

HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) is a great cardio workout that can be short and sweet and very effective at burning fat. The 30 second burst, then 30 second rest periods basically trick the body to stimulate fat burn. You can burn fat up to 24-48 hours after you step off the machine! During steady state cardio, your body is using the most stable energy source your body has, which is fat. However, when you do burst and explosive movements, your body has to use carbohydrates. The intervals on and on in a way tricks the body, confusing it as to what to use. Taxing the body pushing it to its limits for that short period of time is going to give you that fat burning effect long after you stop the session! Treadmill work for long periods of time are a waste, your body stops responding after a certain point. As you can see, in a 15 minute cardio session I did almost 2 1/2 miles! I only have to do cardio about twice a week until shredding season starts. Here is the Cluster 2 from the study conducted by Steven D. Moreno and his team.

2 reps x 10 sets with 10-sec intra-set rest.
The results from this study demonstrate that cluster sets, specifically ten sets of 2 repetitions, allow for greater maintenance of PW, TOV, and JH compared to a traditional 2 sets of 10.

HIPT Workout using 2 reps x 10 sets with 10-sec intra-set rest :

1. DB Snatch 1 rep per arm x 10 sets with 10-sec intra-set rest. Rest 90 seconds and repeat.

2. Box jumps or squat jumps 2 reps x 10 sets with 10-sec intra-set rest. Rest 90 seconds and repeat.

3. Explosive push-ups 2 reps x 10 sets with 10-sec intra-set rest. Rest 90 seconds and repeat.
