So it’s out there 🙈 #nomorehiding after hitting SW Club 10 before going on holiday in October I’ve done nothing but eat and drink, no gym and lots of ‘I’ll start tomorrow!’ It’s been a stressful few weeks and I’ve taken the wrong path to deal with it, opening a bottle (or two) of wine most evenings! And now I have a massive gain of 11lb that took me an age to get off and now I have to start over! I did it once, twice, three times and it’s time to do it again! I want to enjoy Christmas and not be hiding in leggings! 😃 $9 plus about $5 in items from my pantry for 10 healthy, tasty meals. 😃 That’s all it cost me for ingredients for the @laughingspatula lemon rosemary chicken, and the dish already has veggies in it, so it’s a one pan meal!

Breaking it down:
- $5.82 for 10 bone-in chicken thighs
- $1 for 2 lemons
- $1.99 for organic fresh rosemary, of which I used about 1/4, so $0.50
- $1.50 for the 7 red potatoes
- $0.44 for the yellow onion, of which I used half, so $0.22
Items I already had on hand (probably about $5 max for all of these):

Rushing out the door this morning after a late 🎂 celebration with the family so threw together a 5 minute meal prep using leftovers from last nights dinner. Schnitzel with cherry tomatoes, raw veggie sticks, cottage cheese Greek yogurt berry bowl with low sugar jam and protein nut butter, and a pear.

Remember guys, the caloric values for weight loss and weight gain are different for everyone. These images are not a one size fits all solution. They are meant to show you what it could look like if you wanted to make the meals more weight loss or weight gain friendly 😎

So what’s the difference between these two meals? At first glance it would seem that they aren’t all that different but for a 400 calorie difference there has to be some stuff other than what meets the eye. And there is. On the weight loss side the Meatballs are made from ground turkey and the quantity is less than on the right. If you want to eat the same kind of foods during your weight loss then you have to eat less. Of course you can maintain a similar volume of food but to do so you need to fill your dishes with less calorie dense ingredients like vegetables. The weight loss side is also served on top of a bed of zucchini noodles. These provide some of the volume in the meal to help keep you fuller. It is nearly impossible to overeat vegetables so go ahead and load them up, even in weight loss, because the chances you eat enough to sway your relationship to calorie balance is not very likely. .

The right side is made with ground pork instead of turkey. Ground pork is used a lot in Asian cuisine and it is much more flavorful than ground turkey. It has more moisture and fat than turkey which makes it a better choice for weight gain. Ground pork is much higher in calories than ground turkey. The quantity of meatballs you make also helps to increase the calorie load of the meal. The biggest difference between these two meals is the base. The weight gain has a cup of white rice instead of the zucchini noodles which adds lots of carbohydrates to help replenish your glycogen stores and prepare your body for your next workout!!

Fat loss dieting for the office - part 1: Structure. Do you need one?

First of all, and most importantly, you need a basic structure that you can follow for the majority of the week.

Heading into each day, hoping that you’ll somehow manage to hit all your targets without a pre set structure often results in failure.🙅‍♂️Having an idea of what your day will look like is key.
*
Yes, this does require planning, and yes you’ll need to look at your schedule a few days before hand to see how you can make it work 💻
*
Whatever structure you go for, stick to it religiously, especially during the early stages. We cannot stress the importance of this. Don’t be tempted to stray off and ‘wing it’ - this usually doesn’t work⚠️
*
A typical go to structure we like to use would be 3x medium sized meals with 2x snacks in-between. This usually fits in with general office etiquette and doesn’t have you stressing about trying to fit 5x square meals in.
*
Other options that could work:
📍4x small meals with 1x snack
📍2x large meals with 2x snacks
📍3x large meals with no snacks
*
Have a look at your diary, and see which one of the above you could consistently nail every day you’re at work - you may have to experiment with a few, but once you’ve found one that works - go with that🔑
*
