⇨⇨⇨Dinner at Attica last night. We had the 17 course tasting menu, and I had two beers with my meal, a Wolf of the Willows Southern Brut IPA and a Young Henrys Newtowner pale ale.
It was a very interesting use and showcase of local Australian produce, and I found the ants component in two of the dishes quite fascinating. The food was very good and there wasn't a bad dish out of the 17 courses. I don't think I could name one single favourite dish, as I really liked about half the menu and each course was special in its own little way.
The service at the start was really attentive, but things did waver a bit as the restaurant filled up and the night wore on, but that is understandable. It was also quite a long affair at 4 hours, and I personally would've liked it to be a bit shorter, with the timing of the dishes tightened up a bit; sometimes we had two or three arrive at once, while the longest wait between course was 20+ minutes.
Attica has been in the World's 50 Best Restaurants list for a number of years now, and is also no stranger to being named Australia's Best Restaurant, and I can understand why. Getting a reservation is no easy affair, and the food doesn't come cheap, but overall, it was a very delightful and filling evening. I would love to return again sometime down the track; especially if someone else can make a booking, and take care of the bill as well.
