Let’s talk about the cashflow quadrant💵.
Through my work as a designer I get to interact with a lot of people are starting their own business...and although your business should be about more that just money, we all want to be able to make a living and then some. So…here’s what I’ve learned so far about how money is earned. Hope this helps you asses where you are standing, and where you want to be in the future.
According to Kiyosaki, if you earn your money legally, you should identify yourself in at least one of the quadrants. None is better than the other, because each one attends different needs. Also, everyone has the potential to be successful in all 4 of the quadrants. However keep in mind that moving through each one requires a PROFOUND SHIFT in the way we think, the skills we develop, and our personalities.
Here’s a basic breakdown:
Employee: *Exchanges time for money. *Looks for security and benefits. *Money depends on boss/job. -
Self-employed: *Exchanges skill/knowledge for money. *Income depends only on him/her. *Looks for independence, the freedom to do things his/her own way, and the respect of experts in the field. -
Owner: *Creates a system that earns money without him/her being present. (Think McDonald’s, anyone can cook a better burger, but few can create a better system.)
*Looks for freedom. *Life motto: “why do it myself when I can hire people to do it better”.
Investor: *Money earning more money.
*Embraces and minimizes risk.
