“Embrace uncertainty. Some of the most beautiful chapters in our lives won’t have a title until much later.”
— Bob Goff
These words take me back to a time of real uncertainty in my life. I was lost in a land of “You should do this” and “You should be here by now.” So much so I didn’t even know what restaurant I actually liked to go to. What movies I liked to watch. If I had an afternoon free, what on earth I would do as a single person. A friend that I trusted asked if I’d book a last minute flight to Hawaii. I’d never been anywhere just for pleasure. I’d only traveled for work, and only work. I couldn’t justify such a frivolous purchase, but after a night full of frustrated tears, I hit the “book” button, packed a swim suit, and hopped on a plane. {insert so many life-changing stories.. for another time} Fast forward a few days in, I took a very deep dive looking for dolphins and found myself swimming with a Mama humpback whale and her one month old baby. I stared into her eyes and knew without a shadow of a doubt, she was there to give me the title of that long chapter of uncertainty. It was beautiful. I was never the same after that.

One day you finally knew
what you had to do, and began,
though the voices around you
kept shouting
their bad advice --
though the whole house
began to tremble
and you felt the old tug
at your ankles.
"Mend my life!"
each voice cried.
But you didn't stop.
You knew what you had to do,
though the wind pried
with its stiff fingers
at the very foundations,
though their melancholy
was terrible.
It was already late
enough, and a wild night,
and the road full of fallen
branches and stones.
But little by little,
as you left their voice behind,
the stars began to burn
through the sheets of clouds,
and there was a new voice
which you slowly
recognized as your own,
that kept you company
as you strode deeper and deeper
into the world,
determined to do
the only thing you could do --
determined to save
the only life that you could save.

🙏❤️ You made this world a far better place with your words and your beautiful heart. You will be missed, Mary Oliver. Rest In Peace. (The above poem changed my life, and I will be forever grateful to you for sharing your gift with the world.)

Home sweet home and back to training 🥰 So many exciting classes to prepare for in the coming year. I will be returning to Asheville this summer for the @ashevilleyogafestival Just a heads up Early bird ticket prices end on January 31st! I can’t wait to see all of your smiling faces in one of my favorite cities in the U.S. 😘

Sometimes new year’s resolutions can be overwhelming, so when @everly_well challenged me to post one of my own, I found myself doing all kinds of over thinking 🤔. But when I stopped trying to be poetic, I realized there was one thing that stood out. Last year I did a lot of rushing around. From airport to airport, city to city. I found myself eating a lot on the run. That’s not what I want in my life. What I want is to sit peacefully and infuse my food with gratitude before I eat it. To take a sweet moment to bow my head to honestly Thank the hands that prepared it. To honor the Earth for providing me with nourishment. That intention alone will slow me down, and remind me to be still and grateful for the many blessings all around. I challenge you to put up your own note for 2019. 👊🏽 #everlywell #awakeaf

May we not take ourselves too seriously 😂🌺 #awakeaf @soulshinebali

Today I find myself returning to the powerful words of Caroline Myss: 💥"Just let go. Let go of how you thought your life should be, and embrace the life that is trying to work its way into your consciousness." 💥

This quote inspires an openness and a beginners mind. It asks me to listen and engage with the unknowns. To revel in the questions that arise. To treat them as if they have just as much to tell me as the actual answers.

When this practice is done in a partnership— Woah. Now that’s revolutionary. Refusing to “should” on my partner has been the single most powerful communication tool in our tool-belt. For the first time, I feel like I have the freedom to evolve and change as the seasons do. That I don’t have to maintain anyones original perception of me. I’ll say, “I get to be different and so do you.” Maybe I’m called to write this down because I want to encourage my people to embrace more of the unknowns, rather than fear them. To loosen our grip a bit. To see if when we truly let go of what we thought it should be, maybe just maybe—what we receive will be more beautiful than we could have ever imagined for ourselves. ❤️#dontshouldonme #awakeaf @mike.aidala 😘

I remind myself everyday that no one can hand me the wisdom that comes from an embodied experience. If I want to truly know— I must go. Go Walk the land with my own bare feet. Go Smell the air with my own face turned towards the sun. Take a seat in nature in the same spot everyday for one month and observe the comings and goings of that place with my own eyes. To offer my undivided attention to Mother Nature, and look on with wonder and excitement for what shows up. For me, this type of connection is like food and water— I just can’t live clear-headed without it. As the New Year begins, I would love to know: How do you appreciate the little things in your everyday life? #awakeaf PC: @mike.aidala

Literally repeating over and over in my head: “I can do hard things, I can do hard things.” 👊🏽 And to the most supportive coach in the world, @mike.aidala Thank You for being you. 🙏🥰 #awakeaf

"She will no longer adopt,
in whole or part,
other people's identities
or ways of belonging to the world.
She will no longer sacrifice
her one true life
in order to make herself
and others comfortable.
She knows what she has to do.
She must leave her old home
and step out into the wild night of her life.” Bill Plotkin #awakeaf #2019 #youknowwhatyouhavetodo

Just a couple of big kids 👯‍♀️@mike.aidala #awakeaf #bali

I opened an old journal and found the following:

Life is not for us. Life is for life. To Awaken. To be LIFE. Absolutely connected to all beings. To understand the core of compassion. You will not want a life just for yourself anymore. These are goals that we cannot achieve in a lifetime. They are what will create a lifetime. (I did not write the source, but I want to say it is inspired by Paul Hawkin.) 🌺 The bottom of the page read in tiny letters: “Chels, do you want more stuff or do you want more life?” #awakeaf PC: @mike.aidala

You'll need coffee shops and sunsets and road trips. Airplanes and passports and new songs and old songs, but people more than anything else. You will need other people and you will need to be that other person to someone else, a living breathing screaming invitation to believe better things.
