This is an extract from an arms workout I had with @flexatronrhoden a few months before he went on to win @mrolympiallc last year 🏆 🙌🏾

The message we were trying to put across was for those who are new to lifting, who may be dazzled with the plethora of exercises they see online. As much as fitness professionals attempt to reinvent the wheel, the basics should never be overlooked or omitted by a beginner. ⁣

There are of course so many ways to target the 13 muscle groups, but as a beginner we are cautioning you to start with the basics and build a solid foundation first.⁣

So before you attempt to squat on a stability ball, with a barbell on your back, balancing a medicine ball on your head, think 🤔 ‘Should I just work on my regular squat? 🤷‍♂️⁣

By now you know I love squats 😏🤷🏾‍♂️ but it wasn’t always that way. Years back I had a love hate relationship with squats (more hate) and it was because I simply wasn’t doing them correctly. ⁣

I was trying to go as heavy as possible with absolutely no regard for form. I would often squat 6 plates a side and really thought i was doing something 😅 but every set I was barely in control of the weight and would always have a spotter (search: Simeon Panda Squat 260kg 🤦🏾‍♂️)⁣

A few years ago I decided to strip the bar right down and fix my form. My goal was to be able to squat with the same form regardless of what was on the bar, never to sacrifice form for weight or most important for me, ‘depth.’ I found that squatting deep (ATG) was perfect for me. Now you don’t have to squat like me, but if you hate squats and/or find them difficult, try going back to the drawing board and work towards making squats a pleasure. #TeamJustLift
