Chakras are centers in our bodies in which energy flows through. The word chakra literally translates to wheel. This spinning energy starts at the base of your spine and moves all the way up to the top of your head. These swirling wheels of energy correspond to massive nerve centers in the body. Each of the 7 main chakras contain bundles of nerves and major organs as well as our psychological, emotional, and spiritual states of being. Since everything is moving, it’s essential that our 7 main chakras stay open, aligned, and fluid. If there is a blockage, energy cannot flow.
The first chakra is the Root Chakra, the Muladhara. This is where we find find balance physically, emotionally and psychologically. It’s the foundation of the survival instinct; it’s concerned with all the basic needs: food, sleep, shelter and self preservation. It impacts the sense of security in life.
